ABOUT CHARLES SPADA
Charles Spada Interiors was established in 1980, after leaving a successful career as a designer of women’s apparel in New York City and Boston. The hallmark of Charles Spada’s well edited rooms is his use of a soft color palette, a mix of fabrics, textures and surfaces, natural wood and exposed stone floors.
Charles’ work has received national and international recognition having been featured in Veranda, Architectural Digest, House Beautiful, Traditional Home, Elle Decor, French Cote Ouest, Turkish Antik and Decor, and many more. He achieved House Beautiful magazine’s “Ten Most Beautiful Showhouse Rooms” award and was voted by House Beautiful as one of their “101 Favorite Designers.” He was also awarded Traditional Home magazine’s “Outstanding Designer” award. He recently received a Citation for Adaptive Reuse and New Construction by The Boston Society of Architects for his work on Channel Center. Additionally Charles was inducted into the New England Home Hall of Fame in 2007.
A COLLECTION OF CLASSIC TASTES FROM AROUND THE GLOBE
I have always had a love for antiques, architecture, and design. For over two decades, I’ve shopped the markets of Europe, bringing home a vast array of 18th, 19th, and 20th century antiques.
In 1996, I decided to open my showroom at the Boston Design Center, specializing in an eclectic mix of antiques, decorative accessories, and lighting. In 2005, I introduced several fabric and wallpaper lines, now totaling seventeen collections from around the world. I also added classical and contemporary French lighting, a fine reproduction French furniture line, and two new upholstery lines. Each collection, antique and contemporary, brought in to compliment the other.
In 2021, after twenty five years at the Boston Design Center, I felt that it was time for re-invention, and welcomed a wonderful opportunity by way of the newly formed SoWa Art and and Design District in Boston’s historic South End. We’ve been in our new showroom since 2022, at 500 Harrison Avenue, Suite 101, and have introduced several new lines of upholstery, an expanded assortment of fabrics, along with our expansive collection of antiques and accessories. Stop by our showroom full of unique items you’re sure to love.
